It's IDITAROD 2001!!

On Saturday March 3, 2001, my brother Jerome once again will race in this
year's 1151 mile Iditarod Sled Dog Race and I'd like to ask for your help. This his fifth Iditarod, Jerome and the team have worked tirelessly all year training
for this grueling event. Coming in 42nd in last year’s race, he continues to improve. The competition this year is comprised of 81 teams from around the
world and the trail takes the teams this year through the Northern route, considered to be the most difficult.
Once again, this year’s goal is for a top twenty finish! The logistics and
material necessary for the race are truly mind boggling. Three dog sleds, 4,000 pounds of dog food, 200 dog jackets, 1400 hand sewn dog booties, 40
drop bags filled with food, gloves, headlamps, clothing and a host of other miscellaneous items. In addition, costs for shipping gear to the checkpoints
and rigorous pre-race veterinary checkups add to the cost.
We have sponsorships available at every level and we desperately need your
help. My goal is to raise $15,000.00, less than half the cost of running a team in the Iditarod. Without a major corporate sponsor, your help is what gets him
and the team to the starting line, and on to Nome.
Of course, I will be sending you my infamous daily race updates with trivia,
stats, history, geography, and your comments.
Once again my thanks for your generosity. We simply couldn't do it without you.
Welcome to the team!
HIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
